1 INTRODUCTION
The Bulldog Mine is located in Mineral County, Colorado, approximately 0.5 miles northwest of
Creede. Mining operations at the Bulldog Mine ended in 1986. Reclamation activities including
demolition and removal of mine buildings, closure of tailing facilities, regrading and re-vegetating
the waste dumps, and closure of the 9360 and 9700 adits were completed by 1992.
As part of the postclosure and reclamation phase at the Bulldog Mine, Water Management
Consultants, Inc. (WMCI) was tasked with developing an assessment of the Windy Gulch
drainage as it relates to the mine facilities and potential impacts to the local hydrologic areas. The
work to develop the assessment described herein included:
installation of wells, drive point piezometers, and weirs along the drainage,
• • development of a monitoring program,
• an evaluation of flow and water quality characteristics within the Windy Gulch
drainage, and
• an evaluation of the Windy Gulch drainage as it relates to the Willow Creek
drainage system.
The discussion presented herein summarizes the work described above which was utilized in
developing a hydrologic assessment of the Windy Gulch drainage.
n
lJ
