Box 980
Carbondale, Colorado 81623
Re: Technical Revision for reduction of monitoring; File No. C-81-025
Dear Mr. Jones:
After review of the previous year's monitoring results from the North Thompson
Creek t4ines, the Division proposes the following monitoring schedule to be in
effect both during the present condition of temporary cessation and when the
mine begins production activity again. There are two exceptions to this
schedule as detailed below:
1. The requirement for monitoring of the Roaring Fork is deleted and does
not need to be monitored if production activity is started.
2. If sealing and/or flooding of either Mine No. 1 or 3 is instigated Wells
No. 1, 3 and 4 should be monitored on a monthly basis for levels and
Table 16 parameters.
The enclosed tables depict the Division's proposed monitoring plan. If
Srtowmass agrees, please respond so in writing as soon as possible so the
approval letter can be issued.
Sincerely,
,~
~~.~ ~~<
Candace M.
