~_ ~-'..-'I III IIIIIIIIIIIII III
.a':
D r C 1 91977
1977 ... _ _ -
.
O,~i~ n
'-';~s December 17, 197?
Colorado Mine Land Reclamation Board
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203
Dear Sirs:
It has come to my attention that the Castle Concrete
Company here in Colorado Springs is planning a major
expansion of their limestone quarries. I think it would
be a tradgedy if they are allowed to expand. The infamous
"scar on the mountain" is certainly proof they are a
very poor corporate citizen of the Colorado Springs area.
I have worked with mining companies in the past and
find the Castle Concrete Company has one of the worst
records concerning preservation of the environment. I
am certainly in favor of mining and realize we desperately
need mineral resources, however, in this case I am
opposedto any further mining. Although the Castle C~~ncrete
Company talks a great deal about reclamation their r~acord
is terrible, Of all the companies I have worked with they
are by far the most irresponsible.
I hope the Colorado Mine Land Reclamation Board puts
a stop to their plans to further destroy our envirorunent.
Sincerely,
;~s,~,r~ ~~~~
Robert P.
