monthly SWE to the mean monthly precipitation as determined
at the Culebra ~2 Snow Course, to the mean monthly
precipitation values estimated for the site. The Culebra SWE
. and estimated SWE for the site are given in Table K.4-2.

LJ

K.5 Evaooration
Mean annual and monthly evaporation values were estimated for
the site from long-term Class A pan evaporation records (1956-1970)
obtained at the Alamosa Airport, located approximately 28 miles to
the northwest of the site. These evaporation records were used in
conjunction with published U.S. Weather Bureau regional charts, to
estimate the average Class A pan values for the project site. As a
result of this analysis, a mean annual Class A pan evaporation value
equal to 54.1 inches and shallow lake evaporation value equal to
40.0 inches was estimated for the site. Monthly pan and lake
evaporation values estimated for the site were assumed to possess
the same monthly percent distributions to the annual average value
as determined for the Alamosa station period of record. The pan and
shallow lake estimates for the site are summarized in Table K.5-I,
as are the mean monthly Class A pan values recorded at Alamosa.
Y,-6
