JERIS A. DANIELSON, DEPUTY STATE ENGINEER
1
SUBJECT: HART ROK REDI MIXT-MAIN PLANT, CHAFFEE COUNTY, APPLI-
CATION FOR MINING AND RECLAMATION PERMIT
As requested by your office, we have reviewed the application for a sand
and gravel operation near Salida. It is stated that water for the operation
is provided by a decreed domestic and industrial spring and pipeline and
by an industrial well. However, the specific water rights are not identified
nor are the water requirements for the operation provided. Without this
information we cannot evaluate the application in accordance with the
Rules and Regulations of your Board.
The low impoundment dike above the quarry is not adequately described.
If water is stored below the culvert overflow outlet, then the operator
should take appropriate actions to legalize this storage including obtaining
a water storage right. It may be necessary to install an outlet control so
that water can be released to senior water rights .
Until the requested information is received and found acceptable, we do not
recommend approval of the apli~ication.
.~ ~ •~
is A.
