water supply well for the mine and the power plant since 1985. The
increase of water use resulted in the higher conductivities since
.. 1985 shown on Figure B-B. The, 1989 and 1990 values have been
fairly steady except the December value showed a drop.
Wells GD2 and GD3 monitor the QR aquifer and the backfill
material where the QR coal was mined upgradient of well GD2 in the
Derringer Pit area. Figure B-9 presents the field conductivity
data for well GD2. Conductivities for well GD2 have remained
fairly steady the last eight years. The backfill well GD3 was
installed in July 1988 and has been fairly steady from that time
with an average around 1600 umhos/cm. A slight increase in
conductivity has been observed in well GD3 with time. Figure B-10
• presents the field conductivity data for well GD3. The mining
upgradient of well GD2 has not affected conductivities in this
area of the QR aquifer. Any changes are thought to be within the
range of natural fluctuations.
The QR, HI and Second White and Third White Sandstone
aquifers are monitored at the GE well site. Well GE1 is completed
in the QR aquifer. Figure B-11 presents a fairly steady plot of
conductivities except for 1990 where there is some variability in
the data. A gradual overall increase in conductivity seems to be
occurring at wells GE1 and GE2 (see Figure B-12). Well GE3 shows
an .overall slight increase in concentrations for the Second and
Third. White Sandstone aquifers at the GE site since 1985, but with
more scatter in the data (see Fig. B-13). This well is more

susceptible to changes because these sandstone aquifers are
3-3
