~~~ Doc Date:12/11/2001 III IIIIIIIIIIIII III
• tSMALL AREA EXEMPTION
There are four small area exemptions located on the active New Horizon 2 mining
area. The surface runoff water from these sites can not be diverted into an approved
sediment pond for water treatment. Since these areas are small in nature, the flow
rates will be small and the water running off these small area exemptions will be treated
by one or a combination of :live grass filters, straw bale filters, silt fence or small
earthne berm evaporative basins. Listed below are the four permitted small area
exemptions.
Small Area Exemption #1:
•
U
Is located in the original permitted tract that is due west of Pond 007 by approximately
300 feet and consist of a small outslope from a topsoil pile "K" that is below grade of
Pond 007. The runoff from this area was modeled using Storm Version 6.21. The
water is controlled by a contour ditch with strawbale and grass lined ditches to treat the
water before leaving mine property. Below, you can examine the runoff calculations.
For locations, see Map 2.05.3-1.
(REVISED 12!00)
Attachment 2.05.3(3)-11-1
