EXHIBIT E
RECLAMATION PLAN, FREMONT COUNTY DISTRICT N0. 2
GRAVEL PIT
DECEMBER 1, 1980
EXISTING CONDITIONS
The area covered by this Application has been used as an aggregate
source since a time predating the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Act. Very
little topsoil or vegetation remains on the mined-out portion of the site,
which is a terrace alluvium deposit lateral to the Arkansas River.
FUTURE USE
The most probable end land use is the expansion of the solid waste
land-fill disposal operation which is located immediately North of the
gravel pit.
PROPOSED RECLAMATION
The available 15,000 CY of topsoil will be stripped and stockpiled
at the locations as shown on Exhibit C. The stockpiles will be built with a
maximum slope of 2:1. For purposes of stabilization, stockpiles will be
planted with Pubescent wheatgrass at a broadcast rate of 6 lbs. PLS/acre. Upon
completion of the removal of remaining sand and gravel, the affected area will
be graded and smoothed to provide for adequate surface drainage of the site to
discharge into natural drainageways as much as is reasonably possible. Slopes
will be graded to a maximum steepness of 2:1. Stockpiled topsoil will be
spread over the graded areas to a depth of 6" to 12". The entire area will be
broadcast with the following:
Crested wheatgrass .......... 8 lbs. PLS/acre
Pubescent wheatgrass ........ 8 lbs. PLS/acre
Sand dropseed ............... 3 lbs. PLS/acre
Yellow sweet clover ......... 2 lbs. PLS/acre
It is not anticipated that mulching will be required to estab]ish a
satisfactory stand of vegetation; however, hay or straw will be spread and
crimped-in at the rate of 2000 lbs/acre on problem areas, if necessary.
