1
leaving the site without passing through the sediment ponds. The
ponds have a vclurs+e in exces.;ss of 1.5 acre feet. Thus any ;pilled
oil or diesel which did make it to tF,e bottom of the aline yard
would be trapped in the ponds. It is virtually impossible for a
spill to rear_h any natural surface waters.
These features do provide, what I wo,ald r_onsider, substantial
proter_tion from surface water contamination. Orr the other hand,
if the containment plan is to protect the groundwater as well as;
surface water this may not the case since nearly all ruaterial
from any spill would infiltrate into the soil.
Before I prepare the documentation for an exemption or proceed
with the containment plan I would like your opinion on whir_h way
to go.
Sincerely,
~~
Don R. May, P.E.
Project Engineer
735 East 7th Ave.
D,arango CO 81301
385-7504
ropy: Torn Bird
