the 66D map unit consists of 85 percent Foidel with 5 percent Foidel variant, 3 percent
Cou[is, 3 percent Routt, 2 percent winevada, and Z percent Cochetopa inclusions (Appendix •
9-2, Table 1). A G.5-foot mean salvage depth uas used for Map Unit 66D to calculate
recoverable topsoil volumes listed in Table 21-1 and Exhibit 9-t. This topsoil salvage
depth figure accounts for inclusions and topsoil loss during salvage due to brush
clearing.
101-UStic Torriorthents-Rock Outcrop Complex. This map unit i5 located on very steep
Yoeslopes, sideslope s, ledges, and ridgetops near escarpments. Ustic Torriorthent soils
have thin light-colored stoney or cobbly surface horizons which directly overlie skeletal
suhs[ratums. Rock Outcrop areas consist of exposed resistant sandstone or silts[one
bedrock in the form of ledges, cliffs, escarpments, and benches. Adjacent soils are
non-skeletal with subsoil profile development (Chaperton) or have a dark colored surface
horizon, subsurface clay accumulation, and skeletal substratum (Lymanson).
The 101 map unit consists of 50 percent Ustic Torriorthents and 40 percent rock outcrop
with 5 percent each of Chaperton and Lymanson inclusions (Appendix 9-2, Table t). No
suitable topsoil can be salvaged from the rock outcrop portion of this map unit. Six •
inches of topsoil will be salvaged from the remainder of this map unit provided the
salvaged topsoil is suitable, the rock fragment content is less than 35 percent, and [he
equipment can be operated safely. Therefore, a 0.0-foo[ topsoil recovery is utilizetl for
[he rock outcrop portion and 0.5-foo[ topsoil recovery is used for the soil portion of Map
Unit 101 (Table 21-1 and Exhibit 9-1). The topsoil salvage depth figure accounts for
inclusions and topsoil loss during salvage due to brush clearing.
103-ROxal Variant (moderately deep)-Lymanson-S[arman Complex. This map unit is located on
steep to very steep mountain sideslopes, to eslopes, and ridges. Roxal variant and Starman
soils have thin light colored surface horizons which directly overlie skeletal
subs[ratums. Lymanson soil profiles have a dark colored surface horizon, subsurface clay
accumulation, and skeletal subs[ratums. Adjacent soils have dark colored mollic epipedons
ui[h no argillic horizon (Splitro, 4inevada, and Coutis), have a fine particle size
control seta ion (Aaberg) or have an argillic horizon (Lithic Cryoboratfs).
The 103 map unit consists of 40 percent Rox al variant and 25 percent each of Lymanson and
Sta rnian with 3 percent each of Lithic Cryoboralfs and Splitro, 2 percent Aaberg, and 1 •
20 Revised 06/24/91
