Reed, Staff
Archaeologist at Nickens and Associates, in accordance with applicable
historic preservation laws and Executive Order 11593• Dr. Paul R.
Nickens served as Principal Investigator for [he project.
The project area was inspected by two archaeologists walking a
series of parallel sweeps spaced at 5 [0 30 m intervals depending upon
terrain and ground visibility. This resulted in a 100$, level III
Inventory of the project area. Location and sweep orientation were
maintained by reference to cadastral monuments and topographic features.
The ground surface and erosional features were examined for evidence of
cultural material. "Sites" were so designated to provide control and
reference for locales at which there were sufficient artifacts and/or
features to Indicate past human activity. Further, these sites had to
be reasonably localized in a given situation. Historic loci less than
50 years old were not recorded. When sites were dis4overed, an I~ven[ory
Record and a Historical/Architectural Component form Issued by the
Colorado Preservation Office were completed, and photographs were taken.
No artifacts were collected. ,
•
•
8
