•, • III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
'iO: ~ Doug Tiefel, Operational Planner
FROM: Tom Gray, County Geologist!/~
SUBJECT: Docket #476 SR Amendment #2
Western Paving Gravel Pit
DATE: :larch 1, 1977
I have reviewed in detail the submittal related to the subje~:t docket
with special emphasis on the hydrology.
The gravel which will be extracted composes part o£ one of the prime
aggregate deposits in the County with respect to both quanti•:y and
quality and the deposit is considered to be a statutory "corunercial
r,~ineral deposit" as defined in 34-1-302(1), CRS, 1973.
Of paramount concern, of course, is protection of•the rights of owners
of surface water rights in the St. Vrain River Basin. The r~~oort
dated February 7, 1977 and submitted by LJ. W. Wheeler and As:~ociates,
Inc. has been reviewed and appears to satisfactorily address this issue.
Accordingly, approval of the amendment is recommended provided that
the program outlined in the Y7heeler Report is implemented and is
monitored on a regular basis by County personnel.
