<br /> <br />The following information pertaining to wildlife is provided for use by <br />the Land Reclamation Board in their consideration of a mining permit <br />for Ouray County <br />County gravel pit <br />The Colorado Division of Wildlife does hereby find, to the best of our <br />knowledge, that the impact of the proposed mining operation on wildlife <br />will be <br />minor <br />X moderate <br />major <br />Mina Location: <br />T.45N., R.8W., Section 3, NEB, NWT BLM-Gravel pit about 1.5 miles North E <br /># mile East of Ridgway (North of Owl pass road about # mile E. of 550) <br />Wildlife Species List: (may be attached) <br />Deer, cottontail rabbit, rock sgirrels, coyote, porcupine, small birds <br />and other small mammals <br />E~a e ed Species Impacted: <br />/none known <br />Rseessmen~t of Impact on Wildlife: <br />It is destroying some deer winter range, but it shouldnt hurt it too much. <br />It would help if mining activity be kept at a low level during wirjter months. <br />Mine Reclamation Recommendations: (may be attached) <br />Any brush or trees removed from the pit area should be piled up to provide <br />shelter For cottontail rabbits and other small forms of wildlife. <br />Prepared by Ken Miller <br />Title District wildlife manager <br />Date September 9, 1978 <br />
