See Exhibit W. In the case of the partial removal of
the underground drift labeled '1961 Opening', found in the Phase
2 pit, which is seeping ground water through a plastic pipe at
the portal the source of the ground water will be sealed by
cement, or a shale cover, if found in the pit area. Otherwise,
as the drift enters the highwall a permanent seal of shale will
placed 1n the drift to stop the flow of water.
•
Drill hole 29-4, the monitor well, will have a cement cap
placed in the well extending from the bottom at 200 feet to 20
feet above the level where water was initially encountered which
was at 83 feet. The cement plug will be from 63 to 200 feet.
Drill hole 29-8 was improperly plugged at the completion of
Notice of Intent X-87-202-00 resulting in a 10 foot cement plug
not being placed in the hole from 55 to 65 feet.
