Mr. Larson will verify re-establishment ofpre-mining channel dimensions after
excavation has been completed in the drainage area.
6.4.5 EXHIBIT E -Reclamation Plan
2. The Division requests that the operator commit to providing the Division with apost-
mining stream channel survey for each of the three (3) sections to be mined prior to
approval of final bond release. Please respond.
A post-channel survey for each of the three sections will be provided prior to
request for final release of the pit.
3. The Division requests that the applicant provide a revised channel dimension cross-
section, for each of the three (3) sections to be mined, which shows the dimensions of the
beam width or "setback distance" for adjacent floodplain azeas to be excavated to up to
15 feet below ground surface. The applicant should also specify the slope dimensions to
be maintained during mining of the surrounding, adjacent lands. (The Division
recommends adoption of a minimum berm width (or setback distance) of 10 feet from the
edge of each stream band and excavation at no steeper than a 1:1 slope). Please respond.
Revised channel dimension cross-sections for the three areas are attached. Actual
depth in intermittent drainage depends upon the availability of material. Berm
widths will be no less than 10 feet in width. The bank on the intermittent drainage
side will be no steeper than 1:1.
4. The Division requests that the following criteria be followed in re-establishing
reclaimed stream bands of Sandy Creek: slopes less than or equal to five (5) feet in height
will be re-established at a 1:1 slope, slopes greater than five (5) five feet in height will be
ere-established at a 2:1 slope.
The criteria suggested by the Division will be employed as the drainage channel is
re-established.
5. The Division recommends that the applicant/operator leave, where feasible, existing
mature cottonwood trees and/or other lazge, native woody vegetation.
We will attempt to leave large, mature trees whenever possible during excavation.
6.4.12 EXHIBIT G -Reclamation Costs
6. The applicant proposed reclamation cost estimate will be evaluated using the
Division's reclamation cost estimating program to include indirect costs. Please revise
the Exhibit L -Reclamation Cost as necessary based on responses to other adequacy
concerns.
2
