SOIL CONSERVATION RESEEDING AND RECLANATION <br /> <br />Peters Pit No. 2: <br />Topsoil is variable in this unit. On nearly level to gently sloping <br />bench tops, 9" of suitable material is available. On the cobbly <br />shoulders, most of the topsoil has either blown or washed away. No <br />suitable material is available. In the small draws there is a minimum <br />of 20" and in many cases 36" or more of suitable material. All of <br />this loamy material should be salvaged to make up short falls <br />elsewhere. Pit side slopes should be groomed to 3:1 or flatter. <br />The seeding mix should contain, per acre: 8.0 lbs. Arriba western <br />wheatgrass, 4.5 lbs. Vaughn sideoats grams, 1.5 lbs. Covington blue <br />grams, 3.5 lbs. Pastura little bluestem, 5.0 lbs. Llano indiangrass, <br />5.5 lbs. Kaw big bluestem, 5.0 lbs. Lodorm green needlegrass. See <br />page 2 to obtain specific time tables for planting information. <br />Grazing must be excluded for 2~years or more following seeding. A <br />fence may be required. <br />• <br /> <br />
