EGETATION INVENTGRY
The three mine sites inventoried have about the same
vegetative makeup. The Lariat Mine has more of a foot-
hills vegetation with shrubs and forbs dominating the
laadscaue. The North and South Chieftan Mines have more
of a plains vegetation as evidenced by the lack of a
shrub community except on the break sites. Production
with all vegetation is higher on the Lariat Mine site.
The plant community is also more deversified at the
Lariat Aline. All the plants on the three mine sites
could not be identified because many annual and some
warm season perennial grass will not show up until later,
Grasses Forbs and Shrubs on the North and South Chieftan Mines.
Grasses
Sixweeks Fescue
Western Uheat
Blue grama
Buffalo Grass
Sun Sedge
Cheatgrass
Ring Aiuhlp
Needle & Thread
Indian Ricegrass
(North Chieftan)
Little Bluastem
(North Chieftan)
Junegrass
Japanese Brome
Forbs Shrubs
$ochia- Snakeweed
Russian Thistle Rabbit brush
Dandelion Yucca
Cudweed Sage Mtn.
