Dear City Manager:
The Division has received objections to approval of All Rite Paving and Redi-Mix, Inc.'s 1 l2 reclamation
permit application for their proposed North River Pit sand and gravel mining operation. When timely
objections to an application are received by the Di•:ision, a three step hearing process is initiated.
The first step, an Informal Conference, was held in La Junta on May 14, 1999. The next part of the process
will be aPre-Hearing Conference conducted by a representative of [he Colorado Mined Land Reclamation.
Board. The date for that conference will be determined after the board selects a Conference Officer at its
May 27-28, 1999 meeting. Underthc~ present application review schedule, the date will be between
June 4, and June 14, 1999..Lwil1 inform you of the date, time and place as soon as possible. At thr,
conference, the Conference Officer will develop a Draft Order for the full Board to consider in conducting
the final Formal Public Hearing, on the application.
The Formal Public Hearing, under the present permit application review schedule, will be held during the
Board's June 22-23, 1999 meeting, in room 318, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado. You should call
the Division office June 18`s or 21~' to find out which day the hearing will be held.
Prior to the Pre-hearing Conference the Division will send its recommendation regarding approval or denial
of the application and the rationale supporting the. recommendation to the Board and all parties to the
hearing process.
