Also, the same maps t~xWnc~t~
have been modified to show the varying elevation on the permanent visual berms on the ~ dtr~, ~~
southern portion of the permit boundary. The requested test plan for the quarry h
fines/topsoil mixture is discussed below
Plan for Testing Various Mixtures of Plant Fines and Topsoil as a Plant
Growth Medium
Four plots each 10' x 20' will be used to test varying proportions of plant fines and
topsoil as a reclamation plant growth medium. Plots will be fenced to denote each plot
and protect each plot from animal grazing. Each plot will be clearly labeled to identify
the mixture in the plot. The planting depth will be limited to the 6" - 12" depth on top of
a rock surface as noted in the permit application. Current plans will utilize 20%, 40%,
60% and 80% plant fines in each of the 4 plots respectively. These mixtures will be
reviewed with other experts. It is expected that the quarry fines will be less than #4 mesh
in size. If a superior mix is identified it will be used and the mixture will be identified
and submitted to M&G. The seed mixture will be the same mixture as defined in the
permit application. Likewise the placement, fertilizing and subsequent care will be the
same as noted in [he permit application. Test plots will be initiated when the bench area
containing the proposed plots has been created and mining has advanced past this
location. Growth will be checked regularly and written records will be maintained.
Sincerely,
~vW'I
Mitch Albert, Ph.D.
President
