Samples and
water levels from groundwater wells and surface water samples and flows were
obtained on a monthly basis when access to the monitoring area was possible.
Monthly analyses of the collected samples was completed by Soltesco and
included tests for Ph, EC, DS, SS, Fe, and Mn. Quarterly analyses of the
samples was completed by Grand Junction Laboratory and consisted of 35
tests required by CMLR.
Based on the amount of collected data and the inaccessability to the monitoring
wells during the winter months, Dorchester Coal Company requests that monitoring
frequency be reduced to semi-annual monitoring taking place in May and October
of each year. Also, when you receive Dorchester Coal's response to your 1981
adequacy letter concerning Dorchester Coal's 1981 CMLR permit application,
Dorchester Coal will request that several of the 35 analyses required by CMLR
be omitted.
If you need a copy of our current water monitoring data for your determination
of monitoring frequency, please let me know.
Sincerely,
1 ~;
t•
Darrel Hespe
Environmental Coordinator
DHH:jp
Dorchester Coal Compa,
Colorado Operations
2795 Skyline Court
Grand function, CO 81501
(303) 245-6370
A Cu b~i~han' nl Dnrrh r~hv C.ac Cnrp~vati~n
