Southfield Mine
Surface Water Handling Plan
The surface water system at the Southfield Mine consists of water
source wells, water storage ponds, distribution lines and valves
and discharge point to a stream. The system provides water for
operation of the Preparation Plant, underground mining dust sup-
pression, Mine emergency fire fighting and treatment and dis-
charge of mine inflow. The components of the system are detailed
on the following Exhibit 1, Surface Water System.
The purpose of the Surface Water Handling Plan is to manage the
system with respect to the above mentioned requirements. To
insure proper and efficient use of the system, the following
procedures are to be maintained by the surface operating person-
nel at the Mine.

3. Any personnel involved in operation of valves in the
system will be trained in proper water handling proce-
dures and be familiar with the Surface Water System
Schematic.
9. Transfer of water from Pond No. 3 to Pond No. 2, or to
the bypass discharge line, will be directed by a Plant
Foreman or the Surface Superintendent.
This Plan and any revisions hereto shall be posted and maintained
in the surface operations at Surface Superintendent's office,
Plant Foreman's office, Preparation Plant control room and the
guard house.
