<br />• <br />Southfield Mine <br />Surface Water Handling Plan <br />The surface water system at the Southfield Mine consists of water <br />source wells, water storage ponds, distribution lines and valves <br />and discharge point to a stream. The system provides water for <br />operation of the Preparation Plant, underground mining dust sup- <br />pression, Mine emergency fire fighting and treatment and dis- <br />charge of mine inflow. The components of the system are detailed <br />on the following Exhibit 1, Surface Water System. <br />The purpose of the Surface Water Handling Plan is to manage the <br />system with respect to the above mentioned requirements. To <br />insure proper and efficient use of the system, the following <br />procedures are to be maintained by the surface operating person- <br />nel at the Mine. <br />1. Transfer of water from Pond No. 3 to Pond No. 2, or to <br />the bypass discharge line, will be directed by a Plant <br />Foreman or the Surface Superintendent. <br />This Plan and any revisions hereto shall be posted and maintained <br />in the surface operations at Surface Superintendent's office, <br />Plant Foreman's office, Preparation Plant control room and the <br />guard house. <br />Revised 3/89 <br />• <br />
