The location will bo on
very steep slopes (50-80%) at ttic head of Sylvester GuICh on the southwest end of West Flatiron.
• This is shown on the attached section of the Somerset quad in the NW/SE/NW/NW Section 26,
T133; R9bW, Gunnison County. Access will lie from an existing vehicle road crossing the head
of Sylvester Gulch. New access will continue approximate]y 600 feet northeasterly upsiopc to
the proposed'loeation from a switchback in the existing road. This is extremely steep slope with
numerous erosion features. Vegetation is Gambel oak with brush uudcrstory (predominantly
scrviccberry, snowbetry and choke cheiry)'. There is no potential for in situ cultural materials in
this setting. I have been within a few hundred feet of this location following a miner's hose to
the cast. No cultural resource inventory of the exact location is wattartted, and cultuual resource
clearance is recommended.
!f you have any questions or require additional materials, do not hesitate to call.
5inccrdy;
/"K'/ l/
C Sp~th, PhD
Senior Archaeologist
•
5231 South Quebec Street •~Gra:nwogl Village, Colorado RO] 1 f
Phone (3U3) 85U-OHJU • 1'ax (90:1) 721.9298
Wc6 $il<: www.~,~rrynluue•uvuaullaul5.<u[u • E•n1Ril: yrys[onetf3greysttme-ctm•ull,mis.['um
