SIMPSON, CHIEF, WATER MANAGEMENT BRANCH
SUBJECT: HEADLEY FARMS, MORGAN COUNTY, APPLICATION FOR MINING
AND RECLAMATION PERMIT.
As requested by your office, we have reviewed the above referenced
gravel operation near Snyder. The applicant has indicated that water
will not be required for gravel washing or dust control. The only
impact upon the hydrologic balance will be the evaporation from the
gravel pit lake surfaces. This evaporation loss will be replaced by
water recharged in the alluvium of Antelope Draw as part of a plan for
augmentation presently before the Water Court in Division No. 1 in
Case No. W-7737-74.
The plan for augmentation has been in operation for several years and
has introduced considerable amounts of water into the alluvium. The
plan is being operated this year under the authority of the State Engineer
pending final approva!1 of the Water Court.
We have no objections to the gravel operation provided the plan for
augmentation is approved by the Water Court.
HDS/RLS;pkr
cc: Jim Clark, Div.
