There are three rights-of-way on the subject land. Mountain
State Telephone and Telegraph has an underground telephone cable
which serves the Sigma brine (C-9231). Wyoming Fuel Company has
a tramroad (C-23190) from Jackson County Road 23A to the existing
mine. M&T Incorporated has an access road (C-27691) to an active
oil well located in the SW;SE; of Section 10.
There are no federal land systems (National Parks, National
Wildlife Refuges, National Recreation Areas, National Trails,
National Wild and Scenic Riverts, etc) on the subject land, and
the subject land is not within any federal land system.
The proposed permit area for Pit #2 has never been mined.
(2) Based on Range Site information obtained from the U.S.D.A. -
Soil Conservation Service, Walden, Colorado (see Appendix I), the
productivity of the grassland-sagebrush plant community found at
or near the proposed mine site is a follows:
Valley Bench
Dry Mountain Loam
Mountain Loam
Salt Flats
Claypan
POUNDS PER ACRE AIR DRY
Favorable Unfavorable Median
Years Years Years
1000 500 800
1000 500 750
1800 1200 1500
900 500 750
800 300 500
The permit area and adjacent areas have historically been
used for livestock grazing and wildlife habitat (see Appendix J).
Currently the subject lands are classified as unimproved grazing
and ranching district.
Our investigation indicates that the mining area is not prime
farm land.
