Coal Processing Waste and Non-Coal Processing Waste
Not applicable. Colowyo uses dry crushing facility for coal
preparation; no coal processing waste, as defined in Rule 1.04
"DEFINITIONS", is produced from any part of the mining operations.
Underground Development Waste
Not applicable. Colowyo is not conducting an underground opera-
tion.
Return of Coal processing Waste to Abandoned Workings
~ Not applicable. No coal processing waste, as defined in Rule 1.04
"DEFINITIONS", is produced from any part of the Colowyo mining
operations.
Colowyo has identified a number of areas with the active mining
pits that have potential for economic recovery of coal through the
use of auger mining methods.
In 1993, Colowyo tested the suitability of auger mining by mining
• in "Auger Mining Area #1" as delineated on Map 23, Mine Plan.
This first area is located on the current eastern endwall of the
pit and is approximately 1,800 to 2,000 feet long. The endwall is
approximately 230 feet high and stands at an angle of 1/2 to 1.
There is a 50 foot catch bench located at the B coal elevation (see
the following cross section). The current plan is for the
truck/shovel fleet to dig a 400 foot wide cut from North to South
along the length of the highwall at the B, C, D2, E and F
elevations. Once the coal is mined out from the C and E levels,
the auger would be brought in and the highwall augered to a depth
of between 200 and 300 feet if possible. The truck/shovel fleet
would dig to the B level, the B coal would be removed, the
truck/shovel fleet would dig to the C level, the C coal would be
removed and simultaneously the C coal would be augered, the
truck/shovel fleet would dig to the D coal level, the D coal would
be removed, the truck/shovel would dig to the E coal level, the E
coal would be removed and simultaneously the E coal would be
augered, and the truck/shovel would dig to the F coal level and the
F coal would be removed. A planned catch bench would be left at
2.05-38a
Revisio~F.ppreve~_ 4 ~i t ,/u 1.
Revision P:o. ~I Z
