The seed mix and rates proposed are a mix that has proven successful on other sites
in the vicinity of this mine. The seed will be drilled where possible and doubled if
broadcast. This mix will place 62.7 t seeds/sgff/pls and exceeds the recommended 40
seeds/sgft/pls in the SCD Planting Guide for disturbed azeas. The site is currently a
relatively level sandy rangeland site typical to the area north of the North Fork Republican
River. It is a dryland site with no special or unique chazacteristics. Average annual
production is approximately 800 pounds per acre. Tall grasses make up approximately 35%
of the vegetative cover and the plan community is 75 to 90% grasses, and 10 to 15% shrubs
(wormwood).
The species of vegetation found on the site are Biue gramma, sedge, prairie
sandreed, sand bluestem, little bluestem, needle and thread, swithgrass, western wheatgrass,
buffalo grass, sand dropseed and sand sage. These species make up 90 to 95%, by weight,
of the species found on the site.
PERMANENT MAN-MADE STRUCTURES
None
WATER RESOURCES
There are no water structures on or adjacent to the site. The closest flowing stream is
the South Platte River, located approximately 30 miles north of the site. Mining will not
reach the ground water table. Our investigation indicated the ground water table is more
than 250 feet below the surface of the site, so no ground water will be exposed. Surface or
subsurface water will not be impacted by this mining operation.
