The planned operation will consist of open mining of loose rock on talus slides on the lesser
hogback and quarrying of outcrops above the slides. There is an existing two track dirt road
leading to the base of the largest rock slide from the west and another two track dirt road leading
to the top of the hogback from the east side. Approximately 500 ft of new road has been built to
facilitate rock removal from several other smaller slides south of the main slide. The staging
area is about 1.7 miles north of the west mine access road just east of County Road 13.
The proposed area [o be disturbed by mining encompasses approximately 140 acres, including
the mining area, improvements to existing roads, the soil barrow area, and the staging area for
rock turnbling, sorting, storage and shipping. The 140 acre area will be mined in three phases.
The site is currently relatively undisturbed except for the existing roads and past activities
associated with removal of moss rock from the largest slide under the 110 permit use.
Table of Proposed Disturbed Area Acreage
Mining area 125.5 acres 89.6%
Staging Area 4.5 acres 3.2%
Existing Road on east 3.5 acres 2.5%
Existing Road on west 1.5 acres 1.1%
Soil Barrow Area 5.0 acres 3.6%
Total Acreage l40 acres 100%
For physical location ofPre-Mining and Mining areas see Exhibit C Map (enclosed)
Land Ownership
The ownership of all surface and subsurface rights within 200 ft of the affected area are as
follows:
Surface - James Ritchie
Wenatchee, Washington
3
