1
1
1
' Since this resource is mainly useful 1n construction pro~ecte,
the Upland area will be managed on a ,]ob by fob basis.
Contractors will utilize the area to supply material for• specific
' fobs. Each fob would involve mining for a few months to a Pew
years. We anticipate that these contractors will bring in
portable screens and other equipment. The actual nrYning itself
' will be contained in an area from five acr-es to ten acres. We
have proposed three diPfer•ent locations for• pr•ocessing site
setups of a more permanent nature for• substantial ,lobs. We would
' expect only one of the Upland processing sites to be used at any
given time. These Upland sites are contained within eight to ten
acres antl include processing equipment, asphalt plant, recycling
cr•ueher•, and fuel storage. Refer to figure D-1.
' The general method of minino in the Upland area will proceed as
follows:
' 1. A front loader will skim off the t.~p six inch topsoil layer
and stockpile it.
' c. A level area will be created for• the setup of the screening
plant and the product stockpiles.
3. Mining will tiepin by excavation with a front end loaders.
4. Oozer•s may 6e used to move more substantial amounts of clay
' if they arse encountered.
5. The screening plant will be moved along with the mining to
minimize the fr•unt load er• travel distance.
' E. fte~ect materials and clays will be r-etur•ned to the mined out
area to an aver•aoe depth oY two Yeet.
7. The size of these Upland ar-eas will vary between five and
ten acres.
' Figure D-c shows the entrance signs to be installed at the
northeast corn er• of Section 11.
' LowlantY Wet iii-ea
' Within the Coal Creek bed itself, the sand material is cleaners
antl of larger size. The mining area will be ser•v ed by existing
roacls which parallel the Creek on the east and west Sides. As
you can see by the mining plan, approximately 6~~ of the trees
' wi 1l be pr-eser-ved.
The prefer-r•ed mining method will be by suction dredge ors
' dragline. The operators will st ar•t at some point along the Creek.
and mine downstr-eanr in orders to car^r•y a pool of water with the
mining. We anticipate that the mining oper•ator•s here will wash
much of this sand.
1
1
D - £
