EXHIBIT D -MINING PLAN (continuedy
This volume can be easily contained within the excavated and bermed area, therefore, no NPDES
or SWMP plans are needed. This can be verified directly with the Colorado Department of Health.
The mine plan shown on Map Exhibit C-2 shows two sediment sumps: one on either side of the
unnamed channel. The mine grading plan was developed to concentrate disturbed water on the site
into these two specific areas or basins within the permit area. The fact that the unnamed channel
.vill be slightly elevated from the disturbed areas will prevent any sediment-laden water from the
mining operation from entering the channel.
Each of the two sumps will be approximately 14000 square feet in area and 3.0 feet deep; each
holding a voltrme of approximately 0.95 acre-feet. Excavation of the gravel will be made so that all
runoff from the disturbed area drains to these sumps.
The final level of the mined site will be from l ~ to 30 feet below the existing elevation.
• Spi!! Prevention Contro!
B&B will also develop and implement a SPCC (Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plan)
to deal with spills and prevent ground water contamination. The plan will identify all above ground
storage tanks (AST's) located at the site. All AST's will be protected by primary and secondary
contairtment systems. The plan will also deal with spill cleanup, security, EPA reporting, documen-
tation, spill prevention, and operating provisions. The application for the SPCC will be made
during the DMG review process. The implementation of the SPCC demonstrates B&B's commit-
ment to the stringent requirements set forth by the Clean Water Act and EPA.
Culver[ Crossing of Unnamed Drainage
A crossing of the unnamed drainage is needed for efficiency of the pit operations. The location
shown on Map Exhibit C-2 was chosen since it would involve no disttubance to any trees and the
width of the jurisdictional wetland is very nartow.
