Table 2 is.a "rough"
estimate of air dried production which may be present,
The basic calculation to determine grazing capacity
from herbage and browse-weight measurements may be summarized
by the following relationship:
Grazing capacity per unit area =
Dry wt. per unit area
for each Plant Species x Species use factor
Animal - Unit requirement
Substituting into this formula gives the following
results:
• Given: Animal Unit Requirement = 410 Kg or 904 lbs.
= 267.1 = 0.30AUM./acre
904
or
= 299.1 = 0.73AUP7_/ha
410
It is anticipated that approximately 600 acres will
be disturbed and reclaimed during the mine life. However
not all of the 600 acres will be grazed at the same time.
It is planned that 300 acres will be available initially.
To determine the total Grazing capacity, the following
formula is used.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Calculated AUNT/acre x Acreage Reclaimed
= Grazing Capacity (Total AUM)
