2-8
• FlXED CARBON
As with the volatile matter discussed above, only four of the channel samples were tested
for fixed carbon, however, all of the drill samples were tested. Thus, generalizations based
upon this sampling should be considered tenuous. Based upon twenty-two samples; however,
a moderate range of 20.93 was observed. A strong central tendency was observed as
indicated by a standard deviation of 4.34 about a mean of 43.73. No skewness was observed
in the distribution.
SULFUR
A sulfur content of the thirty samples illustrated a fairly large range (0.27) with a strong
central tendency, having a standard deviation of 0.16 about a mean of 0.66. As might be
• expected, the range of the channel samples was smaller (0.16) than that of the drill samples. A
very strong positive skewness was observed.
•
Nlo Volume 1 4-29.96
