Lung
Uivitiion DirMUr
Enclosed please find copies of reports documenting inspections conducted at the Meadows #1
Mine. Per our conversation earlier today, the reports are being furnished so that the Water
Quality Control bivision can follow up on discrepancies between monitoring reports submitted
by Sun Coal Company, and observations made during the inspections.
I visited the site on April 12, 1993, and noted that water was flowing from Outfall 001 at a rate
of 10 gallons per minute. On May 24, 1993, I observed a S gallon per minute discharge at
Outfall 001. During my September 21, 1993 inspection, I checked discharge records and found
that Sun Coal Company had reported no discharge from any of the outfalls during the second
quarter of 1993.
We would appreciate being informed of the outcome of this matter. If you have questions or
are in need of additional information, please contact me.
Sincerely,
Susan L Burgm ter
Reclamation Specialist
c: Bryan Archer, Sun Coal Company
SLB\100593.WP
