distribution equipment will be used as needed as mining progresses. This equipment fleet includes both diesel and
elecu-ical machinery.
At the Fish Creek Tipple, neither surface nor underground mining are proposed. The areal extent of disturbed areas
and previously reclaimed tracts are further described within Rule 2.05.2 of the Fish Creek Tipple Permit
Application (Appendix to PAP, Volume VII).
SOUTHWEST MINING DISTRICT
Twentymile Coal Company, through the acquisition of the unleased federal coal reserves located in the Southwest
Mining District, will add additional recoverable reserves to its existing mine plan. The Southwest Mining District
lease application was submitted to the Bweau of Land Management on January 27, 1992. The Southwest Mining
District lease, Number C-53560, was effective on January 1, 1994. The same mining methods used in the Foidel
Creek mine will be utilized in the Southwest Mining District. It is, however, anticipated that the ]ongwal] face will
be extended to approximately 850 feet as opposed to its current width of approximately 640 feet. The gate roads
will be developed by continuous miners, and coal will be extracted from the panels by use of the longwal]
machinery.
EASTERN MINING DISTRICT
Twentymile Coal Company is planning to expand its operation into what is known as the Eastern Mining District.
TCC has secwed a new federal lease, ]ease COC-54608, and acquired private and state leases for this area. TCC
will continue to utilize longwall mining as the primary technique for ensuring maximum recovery of the resowce.
As in the Southwest Mining District, the face will be 850 feet in width, although as technology advances, the face
width may be increased and the panels will vary in length from approximately 10,000 to 17,000 feet. The gate
roads will be developed by continuous miners, as is the current practice in the mine.
S EMD (Panels 2-Right through 6-Right, PR97-04)
Twentymile Coal will continue mining the remaining reserves in the Eastern Mining as shown on Map 23, Mine
Plan Map. TCC has secwed all the federal and state leases required to mine in this area. TCC will continue to
utilize longwall mining as the primary technique to asswe maximum recovery of the resource. Presently, it is
planned to continue with a 850 foot wide face and panel lengths ranging from 10,800 to 16,800 feet in the Eastern
Mining District, covered by the five-year permit (1993 - 1998). The gateroads, mains, and sub-mains will be
developed by continuous miner, as is the current practice at the mine.
FACE EXTENSION (Panels 2-and 3-Right, TR99-33)
TCC's mine plan now calls for longwall Panels 2- and 3-Right to have a face width of 1,000 feet. Also, Panel 2-
Right may be extended approximately 200 feet to the northeast. TCC will continue to utilize the same mining
techniques to extract the coal from the panels and gateroads. TCC is optimistic that the right panels will reach the
full 200 foot extension, but mining or geologic conditions may warrant cutting the panels short. If this occws, the
start room will be fumed at the location dictated by these conditions. The pemtit will then be mined out from this
shortened area.
12 RIGHT GATEROAD EXTENSION AND ASSOCIATED AREAS (TR00-36)
TCC is requesting to continue driving the 12-Right Gateroad and the northern half of the 12-Right Longwall Panel
start room and the southern half of the 13-Right Longwall Panel start room. This azea is within the existing pemvt
boundary, and involves mining of coal from State Lease CO-3229.
•
TR06-52 2.05-2 02 i 17/06
