GENERAL NOTES
1. Total Project Area. 37.6 Acres
2. Tote, Mined Land Area: 32.5 Acres
3. Mining for Bond and gravel will be accomplished by a progressive,
open pit mining method. At overburden in front of the active sand and
gravel mining area is removed, It wih be placed in the backfkl area
behind the sand and gravel highwall area The backfGl area will also
require Inert, import III material AT NO TIME SHALL THE EXCAVATION
PIT AREA (See Typicd Section Depicted Below) EXCEED 3 ACRES IN
TOTAL AREA. The 3 acre restriction has been placed on the excavation
pit area to limit the amount of cite ill required for reclamation work to
75.000 cubic yards.
4. The top two to six inches of topsoil material sha!I be stripped from
mining area, stockpile areas, processing areas, and site haul road, NOT
TO EXCEED 15 ACRES IN SIZE AT ANY ONE TIME The topsoil shall be
stockpiled in buffer aeas adjacent to mining operations and used for
site reclanr►ation Topsor stockpiles in place for one year or more shall
be seeded using the reclamation teed mix.
5. Reclamation topsoi placement, mulching, seeding a"Id fertilizing may
be delayed unit an amo not exceeding 10 acres In size at any one time,
is available to work. See Reclamation plans for additional details
6. Mining for the surd and gravel will require the use of pumps to
remove groundwater tan the excavation pit area. The dewatering
operations will progress along with the mt•ting operations as they move
through the site Grwndwater wi!1 be pumped and discharged into
settlement pond(s) prior to discharge off of the project site and Into the
Canning Factory Drair ditch. Two discharge points along the north
boundary of the project, have been approved by the State of Colorado
The discharge will be monitored prior to release, In accordance with the
permit requi-ements
7. A 5' Landscape strip, Installed per the City of Grand Junction
Requirements, shall be provided along the entire length of the project
along G Road and the north 600' of 23 Road.
8 The entire project site shall be fenced. A 6• chainlink fence with
screening fabric shall be used in all areas which an 23 Road and G
Road, and all residential uses. A high tension wire fence shall be used
in al; other areas.
9 All precipitation runoff shall be collected and retained in a new
retention pond constructed along the west edge of the project All
disturbed areas within the project shall be graded such that drainage will
be collected within this retention pond or the excavation pit area
10. Haul roads depicted on this drawing may be adjusted or relocated
as necessary to promote safe mining and access practices Haul roads
shall be covered with clean grovel as required to control dust Haul
roads, stockpiles, and other disturbed areas sho'I be kept damp, covered,
or chemically treated with magnesium chloride, as required, to control
dust.
11 Access to and t•om the mining operations shall be from 23 Road
only
12. Mining for sand and gravel shall not extend past the buffer limits
established on the project drawings, unless otherwise noted. In no case
shall the rock cxrushtr" located within 500 feet on a residential
dwelling
13 All sand and gravel highwall mining (le — the sand and grovel
highwall) that is located within 100' of the North. South and West Permit
Boundary shall be cu! at a maximum 3:1 slope. This restriction has
been placed to minimize the risk of slope failure large enough to cause
damage to offelte structures The 100' buffer length was established
assuming a maximum mining depth of 32'
14 Mining for sand and gravel material Is anticipated to require 10
years to mine, and another 2 years to deplete material stockpiles and
complete site reclamation work
