' EXHIBIT "D"
MINING PLAN
UNA PIT
' 1. The pit limits, plant and stockpile area and haul roads will be staked
before any mining is started. The contractor will be required
to keep his operations within the staked areas.
' 2. Tall brush and trees will be stripped from areas that are to be dis-
turbed. large trees will be made available to the owner at their
request. Tall brush and treys not salvaged will be buried in the southern
' pit slopes as directed by the engineer.
3. The top one foot of soil overburden, low brush and grass will be stripped
' from the area to be mined and stockpiled for use in reclaiming the dis-
turbed areas. This will amount to approximately 114,901 cu. yds. for the
total pit area to be mined. Only the pit area to be mined at any one time
will be stripped.
4. The excavation will begin at the westerly end of the area and move in an
easterly direction taking the full width and depth of usable material, all
reasonable means including pumping will be used to excavate the full depth
of usable material. Water pumped from the pit will be settled before being
discharged in to the river.
' 5. Any excess soil overburden will be stockpiled and used to contour the pit ex-
cavation prior to the placement of the top one foot of soil overburden.
' 6. Any oversized material will be buried in the southerly pit slope.
7. The contractor may use any type of equipment he thinks is best suited to
' excavate the material from the pit. The excavated material may either be
hauled directly to the project or processed and stockpiled for later use
on the project.
' 8. A small island will be left in the easterly end of the pit.
9. When work in the pit is completed the slopes will be left no steeper than 3:1
' and the floor will be left in a smooth condition.
10. Reclamation will be as outlined in the reclamation plan.
_ 11. The pit will be worked at various times, after each use any disturbed area
in which all work has been completed will be reclaimed.
12. Timetable: This pit will be used for more than one project in the area. The
timetable for each project will depend on the amount of material required.
A typical timetable is shown below:
- A. Clearing brush and trees. 3 days
B. Remove and stockpile to 12" soil overburden. 6 days
C. Excavate sand and gravel. 120 days
D. Slope and grade pit 8 days
E. Place approximately 12" soil overburden. 8 days
F. Fertilize, seed and mulch disturbed areas. 5 days
