We have been concerned
with the "eyesore" Elbert County has created during the mining of sand and gravel and the
damage to property below the pit. The file will also show that several hearings were held in
1991 concerning violations by Elbert County.
As a result of said hearings, the County was ordered to perform several corrective actions no
later than October 15, 1991. Absent these actions, the County's permit was suspended. It is
our understanding that some, but not all of the procedures have been accomplished and that the
County is once again mining sand and gravel.
Our reason for writing to you at this time is to request any reports or information concerning full
compliance by Elbert County with the November 1991 Order. We would also request that we
be notified of any request for extension of the permit. May we hear from you?
Very truly yours,
~~_~~
Shirley R. Hair for and on behalf of
Marjorie L. Rogers, Dorothy J. Redding,
Caroline A. West and Shirley R. Hair
sj
