• EXHIBIT I ADDENDUM: ADJUNCT SOILS INFORMATION
1.0: Existing Information
Following an initial review of the permit document, additional soils data was considered to be necessary to
adequately describe the edaphic conditions of an area proposed for gravel mining (addendum area) to the
west of the site originally proposed for facility disturbances. This addendum area consists of a neady level
river alluvial deposft overlain by Map Unil #50 (IGm loam, wol, 3 to 8 percent slopes), as described by the
Natural Resources Conservation Service (1995). The characteristics of this map unit were described in
Exhibit I submitted previously.
2.0: Site-specific Data Collection
The site-specific soil sampling efforts completed for the addendum area were completed by personnel
from Azurite, Inc. on November 11, 1997. The field sample methodology used followed that
recommended to Azurite by a representative of Cedar Creek Associates, Inc.
• To complete sampling, the proposed addendum area was viewed to become familiar with access routes
and surficial soil conditions characteristic of the site as influenced by topography, vegetation, and
geology. The addendum area was divided into two "blocks" within which sampling was completed. In
each block, one transact was walked in a nominally north-south direction. Fve sub-samples were taken
along each transact representing the surficial soil material from 6 to 18 inches in depth depending upon
soil profile conditions. In addition, notes were taken concerning surfical soil condRions (percent rock,
vegetation, litter, and bare ground), slope angle, soil color, texture, and percent coarse fragments. The
subsamples were then composited for shipment to the laboratory.
Two samples representing the surtace soil material of the two blocks were sent to the Soil and Plant
Testing Laboratory on the Colorado State University campus for analysis. The analyses to be completed
consisted of pH, texture (field method), percent organic matter, NHq-N and NO3-N (ppm),phosphorus
(ppm),potassium (ppm), electrical conductivity (mmhos/cm),lime estimate, and micro-nutrients (ppm).
The following discussion is based on this site-specHic analysis. Laboratory data sheets depicting results
of sample analysis are included at the end of this exhibit.
C~
