At this time only limited details arc available, but apparently the river broke through but did not exit <br />and is sell flowing+in its arigitral channel The breach is on die order of 3UU feet wide and of unknown depth. The pit <br />is basically a lake, tifost of the arcs is still inacccssiblc. <br />Tlu included hydrographs indicate chc amount of water that eazne down chc river. The first two arc most important. <br />It appeazs that about 5,7UU cfs came down the _lrkansas River and lU,000 cfs came dawn Pountahi Greek. The <br />Moffat Snect gauging station is upstrcatn from the confluence ahth Fountain Crcck. Tlurefore, adding in tuba[ <br />miKht have entered the river downstreani from die cotfluence the river was likely [lowing at around 16,000 cfs, or <br />possibly more. <br />Diana Humphreys of the CDrps of F:ngineets has been nodfied and, at this point, has no problem with the solution <br />proposed by Transit 1\Iis of Pueblo. They will c7sit the siu early nest week after nwre can be derestnined regutlity; <br />the nature of the breach, fasically, the drought is to rebuild the breach area. Fottunately, this week should be much <br />dries and hotter than it has been recently which should provide some time to assess the situation further. <br />More information will be provided as it becontts available, but it tray be a few days befom a toll assessment can be <br />made.
