You further stated that CYCC was required to
provide plans and specifications sufficient in your opinion to meet those li-
mitations for the two discharge points on or before September 30, 1985. You
stated that both discharge points were new sources, and accordingly no compli-
ance schedule was possible. The proposed limitations were based on the stream
standards applicable to that stretch of Foidel Creek, because the Q7-10 was
zero.
We met on September 24 to discuss the contents of your letter and activi-
ties which had been and will be undertaken by CYCC. lJe presented a consider-
able amount of information verbally and agreed to follow up with a written
response. By agreement, the response date was moved back a few days until
October 4, 1985.
Following is the response'to your letter of August 29. This letter con-
firms the information passed to you verbally on September 24, and provides
some additional information gathered since the meeting. Each discharge point
is discussed separately.
Pond D (Discharge Point 005)
There are four sources of inflow into Point D. These are (1) surface
runoff from the tipple haulroad; (2) overflow from the Area 2 pit (site 7);
(3) water from the sump in the underground mine (site 109); and (4) water
drainging from the surface into the portals of the mine (site 113). Discharge
point 005 is referred to as site 84 in the attachments.
CYCC has instituted an intensive program of sampling each so~irce of in-
flow, in order to identify the source and nature of the problem. This
sampling program was described generally in CYCC's letter of June 10, 1985,
and further discussed in our meeting on June 12, 1985- The program has been
conducted primarily by Applied lydrology Associates CYCC's consultant in this
matter. Applied Hydrology Associates' report is attached.
