road with Mirafi 600X placed underneath the gravel an a prepared subgrade to
stabilize the roadbed for winter and wet weather travel and also to prevent
erosion. A short portion (approximately 600 ft.) will be relocated about 10
to 30 feet at the fan site. This relocated portion will be of the same
construction as the existing road (gravel and Mirafi 600X). Ta accomplish the
relocation only minor grading will be required and a small berm will be
constructed along the outside edge of the relocated portion of the road. The
existing road will not be widened nor will cut or fill be required. The
relocated portion will be constructed to the same width as the existing road
(approx. 12 ft.).
CALCULATION METHODS
• Peak discharges from drainage areas were determined using "Procedures for
Determining Peak Flows in Colorado - Includes and Supplements - Technicai
Release No. 55, Urban Hydrology for Sma11 Watersheds", Soil Conservation
Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, 1980.
Channel designs were carried out using equations and other data contained in
"Applied Hydrology and Sedimentology for Disturbed Areas°, Barfield, Warner,
and Haan, 1981.
Culvert sizes were estimated using Mear's Water Flow Calculator for pipes,
ducts, and sewers using the rational formula and Moady's pipe roughness and
frictional coefficients for various materials.
• Drainage areas were determined by planimeter.
(2)
