Box 234
Crested Butte, CO 81224
RE: Mountainview Pit
Our File H 81-2
Dear Mr. Eccher:
I finally got to speak to Bob Campbell regarding your site
after I had finished the enclosed adequacy letter.
After consulting with our Director, as stated in the other
letter, talking to Mr. Campbell, and considering that the size
of the affected area will be near the maximum limit for a limited
impact operation, I think you would be wise to submit the $2,500
bond as stated in the application. Otherwise, you must submit
itemized costs as to what it would cost the State for reclamation,
as I had discussed before. I must emphasize that current typical
reclamation costs have been running $1,000+ per acre for sites
with gentle slopes. The $2,500 bond set for these limited impact
operations is thus a real bargin for the small operator.
Sincerely,
Mike Stanton
Reclamation Specialist
