• s
~ ~ ._~; ~ ;
~~
V. Plant Description
The plant will consist of a reagent feeding building which will house
a lime and polymer feed system. 'These systems will consist of two 6-foot by
6-foot diameter tanks and mixers which feed chemical reagents to a weir box
prior to the discharge entering the thickener,
An accelerator or thickener tank, approximately 35 feet in diameter,
will be used to remove suspended solids and heavy metal ]rydroxides. A twelve-inch
buried pipeline will bring the mine ~•rater from the portal to the plant and a
four-inch buried pipeline will return the sludge fran the thickener to the flo-
tation plant.
Electrical equipment will consist o.f a buried power line, reagent and
mix feeders, pumps and thickener rake drives. Connected horsepower is estimated
to be not more than 50. Plate I and Plate II illustrate the equipment and arrange-
ment of the plant.
Estimated cost of the facility is $250,000 and operational costs are
estimated at $40,000 per year.
~• VI. Location of 14ater Treatment Plartt
The water treatment plant mill be located on the east side of 1Vindy
Gulch just opposite the mine shop buildings. Access will make use of an exist-
ing road and storage area. At the present time ventilation ducting and electric
cable are being stored on the pad, Approximately 1000 - 2000 yards of material /',
will be removed to level the site. This material will be removed or contoured ~
in with the present slope. Reseeding mill Ue accomplished a:Eter construction
is complete.
A surface map is attached to show the general arrangements of the plant
facilities in relationship to existing facilities,
VII. Pollution Considerations
'there will be some increase in noise, air, and water pollution rhir.ing
construction which is common to all such building projects. Every effort will
be taken to minimize pollution during this period. As no toxic chemicals twill
be used in the treatment process, crater quality will not be affected by minor
spills of reagents. Noise pollution will be minimal and should not be noticc-
able to nearby residents. Visual pollution will have little impact because of
existing structures near the mine portal.

- ls2 -
