Plant Energy Requirements <br />Total electrical requirements will be 750 connected horsepower. A 200 Kt+ <br />auxiliary power source will b2 used as a standby unit to run essential pu~r,ps anc. <br />compressors. The present substation is capable of supplying the expected load. <br />Power requirements of the dredge and transfer system Trill be 87 horsepower. <br />The existing Plo. 4 aluminum conductor to the old pond is inadequate arrd a ne~~r <br />po~;rer source is required. <br />~. Fuel oil requirements are estimated at 800 gallons per day and the present <br />fuel tanks will be used for supply purposes. <br />VIII. Reclamation <br />Present tailings pond reserves will last apprnr.inately 5 years at 1•;hich <br />time the pond will be empty. Once reserves are depleted, the pond gill be re- <br />filled with tailings and the surface reclaimed. <br />IX. Economic Analysis <br />Homestake Mininy Company is currently the largest taxpayer in :'•liner?1 CD~nty <br />and is the largest single employer in the San Luis Valley. The total payroll for- <br />1975 was 31,551,226, which 1•ras earned by approximately 116 employees. Over 30 <br />percent of these employees reside in I.1in?ral County, 411th the reiaainder in Rio <br />Grande County. The livelihood of these emplo/ees and many of the merchants who <br />transact business ~•rith the company and its er~••:~lnvees is dependent anon the <br />continuous efficient operation of the Bulldnq 'Mountain 1;ine.
