. ~ ~ ~•
c~
Estimated co:;t of the proposed plant is $250,000, with an estimated
annual opetat_ing cost of $40,000.
Other than the unpatented mining claims owned by Homestake, there are
no encumberances oz the land involved in this proposal. No special use
permits, rights-of-way, caithdrawals, etc. occur. No other parties twill
be affected by the proposal.
Resources:
The proposed project area is not within an organized grazing allotment,
so the range resource will not be affected.
The area is not timbered, so the timber resource is not affected.
1•lildlife species use the area only very lightly because of man's presence
in the area. Due to the light use of the area by wildlife and the small
area involved, the proposal w.i:~l have only minor impacts on wildlife.
F.ecreation use of the area is very minor. Road access is controlled by
the private land adjacent to the project area. Day hikers may occasionally
(• pass through the area, but the proposed project will have no e[fect on
this activity.
The proposed project area leas been idecttified for disposal in the District
Land Classification Adjustment Plan. However, with Homestake owning the
unpatented mining claims, it is likely that they would be the only ones
involved in acyuiring the land if a land exchange takes place.
Tlie project area is not within or near any inventoried, non-selected
Roadless Areas, new lilderness Study Areas, or designated primitive or
wilderness areas. The general area is developed faith roads, buildings,
mines, etc. and does not present wilderness characteristics, so the
wilderness resource wall not be affected.
No areas of cultural or natural historical interest are known to exist in
the project area. Homestake will notify the sorest Service immediately
of any discovery of cultural or natural history resources within the
project area. If any such resources are discovered during operations,
tiie operations will cease immediately and the Operating Plan will be
amanded to specify the conditions for protection or preservation of the
resources.
~•
__ .. - 140 -
