• species composition on those lands which require seeding. To provide cover
for domestic stock and develop habitat and edge for wildlife, woody plants
are also included in the permanent seed mixtures.
Permanent Rangeland Mixture
The permanent rangeland seed mixture used to revegetate disturbed
lands will be composed of a balance of warm and cool season grasses, forbs
and shrubs. An example of a typical permanent rangeland seed mixture is
contained in Table 9.4-2. This mixture contains 13 native grass species,
with both cool and warm seasonality being represented, five native and two
introduced forb species, and seven native, woody species. The final
selection of species used in the mixture in any given year will depend upon
commercial availability. When all species listed in Table 9.9-2 are
available for inclusion in the seed mixture, then the use of this seed
mixture will require no further regulatory approval. When one or more
species specified in Table 4.9-2 are unavailable for use in a given year,
P6M will select comparable substitute species for inclusion in the
permanent rangeland seed mixture. The revised seed mixture will be
forwarded to the CMLRD as a minor field revision.
• A record of the permanent rangeland seed mixtures used for
revegetation on an annual basis will be included in the Edna Mine Annual
Reclamation Report submitted to the CMLRD no later than February 15th of
each year. This documentation will include a photostatic reproduction of a
seed bag tag from the lot of seed bags containing the seed mixture used in
that given year. Additionally, the approximate application rate in bulk
pounds per acre will be provided. When submixtures are required to achieve
proper seed distribution, their application rate will be documented. This
mixture will be applied at a P.L.S. rate that is appropriate for the soil
reconstruction material being seeded. It is expected that purity and
germination characteristics of seed stock contained in the mixture will
result in a variation of the bulk pound application rate each year.

Renewal-3 9.9-9 June 13, 1997
