4.4 REVEGETATION PLAN
•
4.4.1 OVERVIEWQ
This section describes revegetation standards and their measurement, the
types of revegetation operations to be undertaken to establish the required
vegetation, and a comparison of vegetation on topsoil and spoil materials.
This section is divided into the following subsections: 4.4.1 OVERVIEW,
4.4.2 BOND RELEASE SUCCESS STANDARDS, 4.4.3 REVEGETATION, 4.4.4
MONITORING, 4.4.5 STUDIES, and 4.4.6 WEED MANAGEMENT PLAN.
4.4.2 8OND RELEASE SIICCESS STANDARDS
This subsection contains a description of the success standards for
revegetation that permanently reclaimed lands will be required to meet for
Phase III release of reclamation performance bonds. Success standards for
Topsoiled Rangeland, Substitute Soil Rangeland and Riparian reclaimed plant
communities are described by category below. Also, the methods to be used
• to measure the parameters of cover, diversity, productivi t`I and woody stem
stocking are presented.
4.4.2.1 Topsoiled Rangeland Standards
Overview
Phase III revegetation bond release standards specified in this
subheading are applicable to reclaimed areas mined under the permanent
program regulations which are reconstructed with salvaged topsoil
materials. Release standards for these areas include cover, productivity,
diversity and woody stem stocking.
Cover and Productivity
Reference areas will be utilized to establish the revegetation standards
for the cover and productivity of reclaimed topsoiled lands in both the
. Moffat and West Ridge areas. Based on premising plant community mapping,
weighted averages for both cover and productivity will be developed for the
Minor Revision 47 4.4-1 March 2006
