Ore mined at this site is removed to <br />a storage site apprc r.imaiely two miles south east of the <br />mine. From there, the ore is shipped to the Cotter Mill <br />~n Canon City, Colorado for processinc. <br />The primary discharge from this facility =onsists of <br />mine drainage. This water is routed to tie water <br />treatment building where hr ium chloride is added for <br />radium removal as well as a fiocculanr. As shown in <br />Figure 2, page 18 of this permit, water discharged from <br />tha treatment plant enters a series of fire retention <br />ponds. The majority of the flocculated material settles <br />in [he concrete lined oonds. The remainine suspended <br />material settles in the three final ponds. Design flow <br />of the treatment facility is 625 9Pm. Detention time <br />in the settling ponds is 14 hours. Pond ~~5 discharges <br />into Ralston Creek which in turn, flows into Ralston <br />Reservoir and Upper Long Lake. The outfall of pond :5 <br />is discharge poinC 001 as shown in Figure 2, page 18. <br />The settlinr. pond system is being redesigned and may <br />be moved. <br />a <br />
