The 9.2 pH value exceeded our torten[ effluent limitation
[o discharge under the Colorado Discharge Permit System. Tde elevated pH reading is a result o[signifipat
algae growth in the sediment pond. To eliminate further discharge from this logtion (temporary), the
decant associated with the principal spillway pipe was blocked.
In recent years, Trapper has experienced significant algae growth in sevtral sedimentation ponds resulting in
higher than acceptable pH values. [n an effort to eliminate future pH problems in ponds, Trapper requests
the Division approve the use of Aquazine algicide. This algicide is currently used throughout the country
and was recommended for use by both the Colorado Division of Wildlife and Steve Flickinger, Fisheries
Biologist at Colorado State University.
Enclosed is an information sheet, Material Safety Data Sheet, and letter o[ recommendation (Steve
Flickinger) far Aquazine. If you have any wncerns about our use of this pesticide, please contact me as we
hope to apply (3-31/ItY per acre fi water storage) as soon as passible.
