Cxhibit I F~ 4 <br />KC - Rim-Casca,jo complex, 2 to 15 percent slopes. <br />These gently sloping to rolling soils are on upland breaks underlain by sand <br />and gravel. IIevation ranges from $,000 to x,000 feet, The average annual precipi- <br />tation is about 12 inches, the mean annual air temperature is 49 to 53 degrees F., <br />and the frost-free season is 125 to 165 days. The Kim soil makes up about 5U percent <br />of the unit and Cascajo about 35 percent. Kim has deep loamy profiles xhile Cascajo <br />has deep very gravelly and sandy profiles. Cascajo soil occurs on short breaks along <br />drainagexays. <br />Small areas of Fort Collins loam, 0 to 2 and 2 to 5 percent slopes, and Manuel <br />silty clay loam, 0 to 3 percent slopes are included. On some of the steeper side slopes <br />shale is at a depth of 2 to 5 feet under the Cascafo soil. <br />The Kim soil is deep and xell drained. It formed from loamy outxash and collu- <br />vium. <br />Typically, the surface layer is pale broxn loam about 4 inches thick, The sub- <br />stratum is loam to a depth of 60 or more inches. The soil is moderately alkaline. <br />Permeability Ss moderate, Effective rooting depth is 60 0- more inches. Water <br />holding capacity is high. Surface runoff is medium to rapid, and erosion hazard is <br />slight to very high. <br />The Casca~o soil is deep and somexhat excessively drained, It formed in sandy <br />and gravelly alluvium. <br />Typically, the surface layer is dark grayish broxn very gravelly sandy loam about <br />6 inches thick. The substratum is extremely cobbly sandy loam about 15 inches thick, <br />over extremely cobbly sand to a depth of 60 inches or more. The soil is moderately <br />alkaline. The layer betxeen a depth of 6 and 21 inches has high content of accumulated <br />^alcium carbonate, <br />Permeability is moderately rapid. Effective rooting depth is 60 inches or more. <br /> <br />
