No new outfalls were constructed during the three quarters
reviewed. Submittal of the reports satisfies the requirement of Rule 4.05.13(2)(a)(iii)(A).
Previous reviews resulted in the following question in italics below.
Please refer to Table 11-1 of the NPDES permit amendment for permit revision no. 1
(PR-01) for the Lorencito Canyon mine. This amendment can be found in Exhibit 21 of
the permit application. Specifically refer to outfalls 001A through 009A. Please contact
the Water Quality Control Division and request correction of this table as follows;
Receiving water for outfalls 002, 003, and 005 are Cow Canyon, not Jeff Canyon.
2. Receiving water for outfalls 008 and 009 are the Purgatoire River.
3. The location for outfall 009 is not fill 9. Please change the location as necessary.
Please ensure that the above noted discrepancies are addressed through the Water
Quality Control Division and copy the DMG on any associated correspondence.
No discharge was reported during the 2"d quarter 2003. Discharge was reported in the
3rd quarter 2003 at outfall 009 (Pond 9 North) due to a storm event of about 1.1 inches
of rain, confirmed via field inspections during September 2003. The alternate limit of .5
ml/I settleable solids was requested, as the discharge exceeded the suspended
Office of Office of Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation ARive and Inactive Mines Geological Survey
